Description

Magnetic Current Imaging is another non-destructive testing (NDT) technique. As obvious to the name, MCI is a magnetic imaging tool that make use of magnetic fields emitted by the current inside any IC chip. And based on mathematical calculation the data is converted into a full distribution of current density for mapping purposes. It is commonly used to make quick diagnosis and to located the area of defects. It is deployed for:

  • power-to-ground shorts
  • pin shorts
  • hot spots
  • localized and global leakage
  • excessive current draw
  • dielectric integrity issues
